Indigo powder is prepared by grinding the leaves of the indigo plant. Indigo powder is green in color but due to this, the hair becomes black-dark brown in color. This is a natural way to color the hair, so the indigo powder does not have any bad effect on the hair.
Do not mistake indigo powder as indigo hair dye available in the market, which is a chemical hair color. Indigo powder is also obtained from the plant of indigo, which is used to remove the yellowness of white clothes.
How to darken hair with indigo powder?
There are 3 main methods of applying indigo powder to darken hair, you can choose the method according to your need and convenience. For the next few days after dyeing the hair, the color of indigo oxidizes, causing the color to darken. It is only after oxidizing that the correct natural color appears in the hair. Adding 1 teaspoon of salt to the paste of indigo powder enhances the color.

Helpful In Hair Colour
If your natural hair color is dark black then you can directly apply indigo powder to color your white hair. You don’t need to mix anything else with it. According to the length of your hair, take the indigo powder in a glass, steel, or iron vessel.
Now heat some water, there is no need to boil the water. Mixing indigo powder in hot water mixes it well. Mix it well and make a paste and leave it for 15 minutes. After this, divide the hair into 2-3 parts and apply indigo powder paste to the hair.
Let it stay for at least 1 hour. After that wash the hair with cold water only and wash off the paste thoroughly. While drying with a towel, do not wipe it with a lot of rubbing, but absorb the water by pressing it with a towel and then let the hair dry.
Applying by mixing henna and indigo powder
If your hair color is brown, then you can apply henna by mixing the indigo powder in it. In this method, take the indigo powder in half the amount of henna powder you take to color your hair. Make a paste by mixing henna and indigo powder with hot water. Keep it for at least 15-20 minutes, after that apply it well to the hair. Leave this paste on for at least 1 hour, then wash it with clean, cold water and let the hair dry.
Long Term Hair Colour
After dyeing the hair in this way, the black color of the hair remains for several days, but it takes time to dye it in this way. In this, first, make a paste of henna powder and apply it to the hair, then after 1 hour wash it with water and let the hair dry. On coloring with henna, the hair becomes red-orange in color, applying indigo powder on it gives a good color.
After a few hours of drying the hair thoroughly, apply a paste of indigo powder to the hair and wash it with water after drying. Both these colors have to be done on the same day.
In this way, a nice black-dark brown color gets absorbed into the hair, which looks natural, feels good, and does not leave too quickly.
